Over a 20-week programme, EX2 Electrical played a key role in the refurbishment of the Taw View Offices in Barnstaple, transforming the building into a modern, flexible, and energy-efficient workplace for Devon County Council. The project involved the reconfiguration of the internal layout to create contemporary open-plan office environments across the first and second floors, complemented by meeting rooms, breakout areas, audio booths, and ergonomic standing workspaces. The ground floor was redesigned to accommodate a welcoming reception area, facilities management offices, a café, meeting rooms, and supporting ancillary spaces.
A major focus of the project was the delivery of advanced building services designed to improve occupant comfort, operational performance, and long-term sustainability. Technical services provided included the installation of highly efficient heat recovery ventilation systems, energy-saving lighting solutions, intelligent lighting controls, and a fully integrated Building Management System (BMS). These systems were selected and coordinated to optimise energy consumption, enhance environmental conditions throughout the building, and provide greater control over day-to-day operations.
By combining modern electrical infrastructure with sustainable building technologies, EX2 Electrical helped deliver a future-ready office environment that supports collaboration, wellbeing, and efficient facility management while reducing the building’s overall environmental impact.
