A team of electrical engineering specialists from EX2 Group will take on the 1,085-metre ascent of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) this May as part of a demanding sunrise charity challenge to raise funds for the South Western Ambulance Charity.

The team will set off at 1:30am to complete the 15km round-trip climb, reaching the summit of Wales’ highest peak at dawn. The seven-hour endurance challenge will see EX2 engineers climb through darkness alongside four members of staff from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Supporting a Key Client and a Vital Cause

EX2 Group has worked closely with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, critical services engineering support and electrical infrastructure upgrades at operational sites including across the Trust’s estate.

As a specialist contractor operating in complex electrical infrastructure environments, EX2’s work directly supports the Trust’s ambition to improve energy resilience and lower operational costs across critical healthcare facilities.

Engineering Expertise Beyond the Project

For EX2, the challenge reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability, partnership working and supporting essential national infrastructure.

James Freemantle, Director at EX2 Group, who will be taking part in the climb, said:

“We have seen first-hand the dedication of ambulance crews and the importance of resilient infrastructure in supporting frontline services. As engineers, we are proud to contribute through electrical upgrades and critical services support. This challenge allows us also to support the people behind the service directly.

Climbing Snowdon in the early hours will be tough, but it mirrors the teamwork and preparation our engineers bring to every project.”

Driving Impact for Frontline Services

Funds raised will support projects delivered by the South Western Ambulance Charity that enhance staff wellbeing, improve patient experience and provide additional resources beyond core NHS funding.

Louise Walsh, Fundraising Manager at the charity, said “Funds raised from this epic challenge will help make a lifesaving difference. Donations equip dedicated Community First Responder volunteers to assist local patients, help communities learn lifesaving CPR skills, and provide wide ranging support for our exceptional NHS ambulance staff. We’re delighted to have this support from EX2 Group and wish everyone taking on this trek an exceptional experience.”

EX2 Group is calling on clients, suppliers and industry partners to sponsor the team and help maximise the impact of the fundraiser.
