Nancy Potter House – solar PV and battery
Healthcare
Project Overview
Our Eco-Tech division designed and fitted solar PV panels and battery storage for Nancy Potter House, the social hub of the Estuary League of Friends charity in Devon.
The 50 panels are forecast to generate 20,000 Kwh per year, avoiding 2.4 tonnes of carbon emissions and providing 40% of the energy required at the site.
Our design included battery storage at the site, to help power the library, post office and café housed there. The battery both allows the storage of cheap, off-peak electricity from the grid in the winter months and to store surplus free, solar energy from times when the centre is not in use.
The solar energy system included the fitting of 50 panels across 2 roofs, connection to the grid, and installing a 30Kw battery. The charity’s facility manager can monitor the energy generated and stored by the system in real time using an online monitoring portal.
